Why are we a Messenger?

The EQUUS Foundation has designated our organization as a Messenger. Click here to learn more about our horse care and use practices.

Messengers are organizations on the Equine Welfare Network that demonstrate a commitment to public transparency and accountability by their willingness to publish and share extensive data about their operations.

Equine Welfare Network Messenger

Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation): Public Service

Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care of horses to provide its services.

100% of our total programs and services are horse-related.

Our organization conducts its horse-related programs at one facility.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Our mission: Improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs through the power of the horse

FETC is a member center of the Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATHintl). Our horses are an integral part of our Equine assisted activities and therapies program (EAAT). Through the power of the horse we help individuals in need to thrive in society.

Horse-related programs:
Faith Equestrian Therapeutic Center provides Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT), and Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) program for children with mental, social, physical and emotional disabilities. They are taught by Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATHIntl) certified instructors with registered credentialed educators comprising a team of experts in their field.
The equine assisted riding activities incorporates fun and educational lesson plans designed specifically for each participants needs in an arena or sensory integration trail. Equine Facilitated Learning incorporates the Equine Specialist and educator to help the special needs population improve life skills through educational activities while gaining a bond and friendship with the horses they work with.
The program is designed specifically for the therapeutic value of the participant. The side benefits are that the program helps the involved horses which are all rescued or unwanted pets to have human companionship and purpose for their lives.

Non-horse-related programs:

Sponsor Orion- Rescued Thoroughbred
FETC needs help caring for our latest rescued horse Orion. he is an 8 yr old / 17 hands / Grey/ Thoroughbred off the track that began a career as a jumper. He was great on the flat but didn't like jumping. He was found to have shivers( probably why he didn't like jumping) so he was cast into a field to die by the barn who owned him. FETC rescued him but the day he arrived on property he fell down in convulsions. Vet said he was full of sand from starvation. He was taken to the hospital at UGA and has made a miraculous recovery. He is a super horse and his new job is to work with FETCs wound warriors program. He will be featured on the UGA large animal calendar this year 2016. Orion needs a sponsor to help with his feed and care. If you are interested please contact us through the Equus foundation.
