The Light Center utilizing "rescued animals to rescue kids."

Volunteer Opportunities

Barn Angel
Minimum Age: 12
This behind the scene volunteer opportunity is tremendously important to keep our adaptive barnyard facility safe and clean for youth participants. The barn angel job does not require animal care. Barn keeping chores may include sweeping, dusting, sanitizing, and general cleaning. Minors may actively volunteer with a parent/guardian.

Small Animal Caretaker
Minimum Age: 12
Assist our dedicated barn personnel in maintaining the general care of the animals and of our adaptive barnyard facility. Our program friendly animals include small livestock from bantam chickens up to sheep and miniature horses. Volunteer tasks may include cage cleaning, mucking, grooming and paddock clean up. Minors may volunteer alongside an active parent/guardian.

Certified Equine Volunteer
Minimum Age: 18
An extensive background in equine care and handling is required for this volunteer opportunity. All equine volunteers must complete the Light Center equine exam and assessment. Certified volunteers may help with grooming, ground work, assistance with vet and farrier visits and feed acquisition. Volunteers are not permitted to ride TLC horses.
