Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Public Service

Our organization operate programs involved with horse rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, adoption and/or retirement.

Our organization operates programs involving horses that serve individuals with special needs, including but not limited to equine assisted activities and therapies.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care of horses to provide its services.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Our program offers a meaningful experience to enhance wellness, build life skills and self-esteem to children, adults and families with physical, developmental, intellectual, emotional or socioeconomic special needs. We do this by providing equine assisted activities, delivery of agricultural and environmental opportunities, and the development of innovative projects.

Borrowed Freedom is an American Hippotherapy Association facility member and a PATH International member center.

Volunteer Opportunities

Administrative Volunteers
Minimum Age: 17
Working with the Directors and/or event chairperson, these volunteers staff and help us reach the community and plan our exciting special events like the upcoming Wine Tasting, Annual BBQ and Golf Tournament. These events make an impact with directing the community's attention and support to the Program. Other opportunities may include thank you calls, on-site tours or participation on committees.

Office Volunteers
Minimum Age: 17
Office volunteer duties may include helping with mailings, data entry, filing, or answering or making phone calls. We ask that you be able to commit to a minimum of 1 hours a week for a full session.

Session Volunteers
Minimum Age: 18
Volunteers are a vital part of programs like ours, without them we cannot continue to offer services. Our session volunteers complete an in-depth training before they are assigned a position within the program and we ask volunteers to commit to a full 12-15 week session. Session Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteers 13 and up are welcome to volunteer during special events such as Special Olympics under the direct supervision of their parent or guardian.
