We are a 2017 Messenger!

We are proud to be an EQUUS Foundation Messenger and share our horse care & use practices with the public.

The Messenger Designation is awarded annually. To retain an existing EQUUS Foundation Messenger designation and apply for an EQUUS Foundation grant in 2017, organizations must provide all required information and update their Messenger information on or after January 1, 2017 and not later than April 30, 2017.

Messengers are organizations on the Equine Welfare Network that demonstrate a commitment to public transparency and accountability by their willingness to publish and share extensive data about their operations.

Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Public Service

Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care of horses to provide its services.

100% of our total programs and services are horse-related.

Our organization conducts its horse-related programs at one facility.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Riding with HEART AKA Dreams Come True Therapeutic Riding is a non-profit 501C organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of physically and cognitively challenged adults, children and their families and to provide youth development through our diversified equine assisted programs.

Horse-related programs:
Riding with HEART provides equine assisted activities and therapies to children and adults with physical, cognitive and/or emotional disabilities. Programs include adaptive therapeutic riding, hippotherapy, Social Skills for Children on the Autism Spectrum, Equine Assisted Learning, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Mommy & Me, Horsemanship classes, work study and volunteerism.

Volunteer Opportunities

Lesson Volunteer
Minimum Age: 12
Lesson volunteers keep our lesson program running smoothly and on time. Volunteers may lead or sidewalk a horse during a lesson or therapy session. Volunteers also groom and tack up horses for the lessons.

Board Of Trustees Member
Riding with HEART seeks individuals with varied strengths that will help lead and guide the program forward. Horse knowledge is not necessary, but a willingness to devote time to a wonderful program that makes a difference in the lives of so many people that have physical or cognitive disabilities.

Program Volunteer
Minimum Age: 12
A program volunteer is a person who wants to help our organization in another capacity then a lesson volunteer. Program volunteers may garden, barn and/or grounds upkeep, handyman jobs, groom, equine massage therapist or fundraise. If you have a talent and think it could help our organization please contact us.
