Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Providing therapeutic riding for children and adults of varying disabilities through a completely volunteer & donor based organization.

Volunteer Opportunities

Grant Writers
The Reece Center exists on donations alone. We are always looking for someone to help us apply for grants that are our lifeblood.

Group Projects
We always have special projects we can use help from groups on. From cleaning up the barn and property and fixing things that may need to be fixed to building new rings, ramps or other needed equipment. We have big and small projects available for any size group.

Horse Leaders And Side Walkers
Minimum Age: 16
These volunteers work directly with our disabled riders. They lead horses during lessons or walk beside riders that may need special assistance. These volunteers also assist in preparing the horses for lessons by grooming and saddling. No horse experience is required, we will be happy to train you.

Feeders
Minimum Age: 18
We rely on volunteers to feed our horses each day. Our feeders rotate throughout the year. Horse experience is prefered but we will train you.

Wish List Items

Horse Cart And Harness
We would love to add driving to our list of services we can offer our students. We are currently working to acquire a horse that can be driven and need a cart and harness for him to pull. The horse we are working to get is well over 17 hands, a large draft horse.

Barn Cleaning Equipment
We are always in need of new pitchforks, manure forks and wheelbarrows to assist in cleaning our barn.

Indoor Arena
Our dream is to build an indoor arena so that we may expand our program. This would allow us to provide classes at different times of the day and evening. It would also prevent the need for cancelling classes due to weather.

Bitless Bridles
To help our horses be as comfortable as possible as they assist our disabled riders learn to ride, we would love to have a bitless bridle for each horse.

Horse Tack
We are always accepting and needing donations of all types of tack, English & Western, pony, horse and draft sizes. Saddles, bridles, girths - any type of tack, we usually need it.

Horse Trailer
We are in need of a horse trailer that is built for larger, draft sized horses. We currently have 5 horses all over 16 hands that we haul to Special Olympics that would be very appreciative of a larger trailer, preferably slant load. Gooseneck is definitely acceptable
