Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.

50% of our total programs and services are horse-related.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
The mission of Animal Assisted Therapy Services, Inc. is to provide persons with physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and emotional disabilities the opportunity to experience the power of the unique human /animal bond as therapeutic intervention thus promoting lifelong health and wellness. Animal Assisted Therapy Services is dedicated to training, research, and education in this emerging field of Recreational Therapy.

Horse-related programs:
Animal Assisted Therapy Services (AaTs)provides mounted and un-mounted equine programs for persons with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial disabilities. <br /><br />AaTs also operates full day summer programs. "Equine Experience" is a non- therapeutic program for our volunteers to increase their horsemanship and riding skills; "Horse Trails to Learning" targets middle school students from urban and suburban school districts; "Horses for Healing" is a therapeutic program for teens at risk.

Non-horse-related programs:
AaTs also provides therapeutic services with Pet Partners registered therapy dogs. Programs include educational literacy support, comfort, communication and leadership skills, sensory stimulation, and emotional support during trauma.

Minimum Age: 14
Therapeutic Riding at Spring Meadow Farm, Milford, CT is one of the many services offered by Animal Assisted Therapy Services, Inc.
We work primarily with children 4-18 years old. Weekly classes are held with small groups of 4-5 riders. Our volunteers are crucial to the success of the program and we are seeking interested individuals. Training is provided. No horse experience necessary.
