Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Our mission is to rescue and care for any unwanted horse including those that have been neglected, abused, abandoned or are at risk of going to slaughter. If the horse can be rehabilitated and adopted we will find a loving, informed home for them. If suitable homes cannot be found, NSHR has committed itself to allowing its permanent residents to live out their lives in a safe, stress-free environment.

Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Horse Welfare

Our organization provides community outreach and/or public education programs involving horses.

Our organization'operates programs involved with equine rescue, adoption & retirement.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of equines involved in our programs.

100% of our total programs and services are horse-related.

Our organization conducts its horse-related programs at one facility.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers Wanted
Minimum Age: 16
We are looking for volunteers to help muck paddocks, groom horses, walk horses, and just give horsey hugs. We even need people to take care of our chickens.

Volunteer Day And Training
Minimum Age: 16
We will be hosting a volunteer orientation on May 7, 2017 from 10:00 - 12:00. Come ready to work, meet some great horses and new friends.

Wish List Items

We are currently seeking applications for sponsorship of our horses. Donations on a monthly basis are greatly appreciated to help support the horses. Due to the fact that we are a sanctuary, many of our horses require medication and supplements to keep them as healthy as possible. This can be an enormous cost to the facility. Sponsorships of any monetary denominations can be helpful.

Gator Wanted
We are looking for a used or new gator to help delivery food and hay to our 32 horses.
