2009 Grant Information

Check Back in March for 2009 Grant Application Information.
Grants are awarded to charities to support our three funding areas:

Public Welfare, including therapeutic riding programs and other equine-assisted activities for individuals with physical, emotional, behavioral, and learning disabilities, life-threatening or other serious illnesses, and underserved, economically-disadvantaged and "at-risk" youth, for scholarships, financial aid, riding apparel and equipment, certified riding instructors, transportation, and horse care;

Horse Welfare, including horse rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and retirement, for feed, supplements, tack, grooming supplies, horse gear, farrier, veterinary care, equipment, and capital improvements; veterinary education and research; and equine ambulance services;

Sport Welfare, including programs that enhance the equestrian sport, through scholarships, awards, youth involvement, relief for equestrians in need, and programs to promote public education and awareness.
EQUUS FUNDING AREAS
The EQUUS Foundation, Inc. awarded over $300,000 in grants and grant-enhancement programs in 2008, bringing us to over $1.1 million in awards since our first awards in 2003. We have raised funds almost entirely from special events.
  While we are gratified that we supported 50 charities in 2008, we received over 130 grant requests, many of which were very deserving of support. Moving forward, we will be working hard to raise enough funds to accept all the requests that meet our requirements.
