Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
ERCT was formed to meet the need for rehabilitation services for equines after rescue and seizure by other equine rescue public charities. Working in collaboration with other equine rescue organizations, ERCT is accepting rescued horses, donkeys and mules for the purpose of temporary housing and rehabilitation. Using natural horse care strategies, ERCT is housing, feeding, providing veterinary care, and farrier services to establish stable health and welfare of the rescued equines. If professional training is needed, ERCT will contract with qualified trainers to help the horses feel safe with people and determine ridability. ERCT will then make available to other equine rescue/adoption organizations and individuals, the horses that are in stable condition for adoption to loving forever homes.

Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Horse Welfare

Our organization operates programs involved with horse rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, adoption and/or retirement.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.

Volunteer Opportunities

Help Building A Structure And Bathroom
Supplies provided by donors, the design of the bathroom will be provided and building supervision. We only need volunteers to provide the labor.

Help Build A Hay Storage Shed
In order to buy hay in larger quantities, we will build a hay storage shed. Supplies, the design and supervision will be provided. No particular skill is needed to help with this volunteer opportunity.

We are preparing the ground, planting and building a small fence around an area for parents and volunteers to relax and watch the horse activities.

Wish List Items

Used Or New Saddles
A variety of saddles needed for our planned therapeutic riding program.

Riding Helmets
Safety helmets needed in various sized.

Mounting Ramp
Mounting ramp is one item needed to prepare for our therapeutic riding program.

Used Two-horse Trailer
We have a neighbor that provides transportation but a used trailer available available for vet visits and transporting rescue horses would be appreciated.

Hay Storage Area
With a hay storage shed, we could buy hay in larger quantities, reducing costs and time spent picking up hay.

Donated Road Base
We need to make parking spaces for volunteers and future therapy riding program participants.

Public Bathroom
One of our goals is to begin a PATH therapeutic riding program in 2014. For this purpose and for our many volunteers, we need a toilet room tapped into the existing septic system. We are looking for donated building supplies and volunteers to help build it.

Used Four-wheel Vehicle With Cart
Our manure clean up needs are very labor intensive using a wheelbarrow alone to clean pastures and stalls. A four-wheel vehicle with cart would reduce our time involved with this endeavor.
