Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.

Our organization uses horses to provide our services that are cared for and sheltered by another organization(s).

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals with MS, and advance research to benefit all with MS.rnrnThe center is part of Stony Brook Long Island Children’s Hospital and the Stony Brook University Neurosciences Institute.

Our center provides the opportunity for individuals with MS to enhance their quality of life with a therapeutic horsemanship program. Through funding obtained, this program is offered at no charge to participants, many of whom have spoken of their increased confidence and a renewed ability to overcome MS-related muscle pain. This testimony, along with others, confirms our mission of improving the quality of life for those with MS.

The Lourie Center for Pediatric MS is a non-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt charitable organization under the umbrella of the Stony Brook Foundation (SBF). rnrnThe Center is eligible to receive grants as a subordinate of The Research Foundation of the State University of New York (SUNY).
