Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.
Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Leg Up Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that strives to inspire the lives of those with life challenges through the benefits of equine assisted activities that promote treatment of emotional, behavioral, social, mental and physical needs.
Lesson AssistantsIndividuals that assist during lessons may act as horse leader, side walker, or aid.
Volunteer OpportunitiesHorse experience is welcomed, but not required. All volunteers will attend an orientation/training session appropriate for the tasks they're interested in.
Barn AssistantIndividuals that help with the care of horses by feeding, grooming, cleaning tack or stalls, and acting as horse handlers
Administrative/Office AssistantIndividuals that assist with general office procedures: filing, copying, paper "jockey", communications coordination.
Special Event AssistantIndividuals that assist with fund raising activities, staff information booth at public events, help with open house and/or training activities.
Facility Maintenance AssistantIndividuals that assist in task such as mowing, weed-eating, fence repair and pasture maintenance.
Arena Improvement ProjectAs we are entering our last phase of arena improvement, we welcome donations to assist in adding sand to improve the arena footing for horses and riders.
Horse Tack/Grooming SuppliesLooking for tack and grooming supplies that are in good condition. *Specific need for a 70" turn-out blanket*.
Sponsorship For RidersDonations earmarked for riders allows us to offer services for free at a reduced rate (1 rider for 8-week session = $120.00)
Sponsorship For HorsesDonations targeted for horse maintenance go to veterinarian care, farriery, feed, de-worming, etc.
Heavy Duty Riding MowerNew or used/good condition mower to maintain grounds. (Minimum 18 hp; 44 inch cut)
