Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
McCormick Research Institute delivers the highest quality of equine-assisted therapies to veterans struggling with PTSD and individuals with special needs while conducting research to identify effective practices and disseminate that knowledge to industry practitioners.
Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation): Public Service
Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.
100% of our total programs and services are horse-related.
Our organization conducts its horse-related programs at one facility.
Volunteers WelcomeMinimum Age: 14McCormick Research Institute always welcomes volunteers. And we truly appreciate those who give their time and effort to help others. All volunteers go through our New Volunteer Orientation and may choose to clean stalls, tack or bathe horses, or even help in sessions, either leading or side-walking the horses.
Wish List ItemsWe currently have a number of wish list items.
Barn aisle flooring to prevent horses slipping.
Add outdoor arena (clay & fencing).
Three sheds to store equipment and special event items.
Bleachers & concrete walkway to outdoor arena.
Shower for guests.
Add gate with electric opener.
2 picnic benches.
Tables, chairs, linens for events for 250 guests.
