Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation): Public Service
Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.
Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Horse Enthusiast Adaptive Riding Therapy is a non profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with special needs. Using equine facilitated activities we build strength, independence, and self confidence to enhance the physical, emotional and social well being of these individuals.
Lead Walkers And Or Side WalkersMinimum Age: 16As H.E.A.R.T. grows the need for lead walkers and side walkers also grows. Horses that qualify for our program must be transported to the arena. We have a need for more program horses but there are not facilities for leaving the horse. The owner could become a lead or side walker so their time would be better utilized. PATH Intl. volunteer training is offered and required before each new session of classes.
H.E.A.R.T. is also looking for certified PATH Intl. instructors. At this time all positions with H.E.A.R.T. are volunteer. Grants are being written for the salary of Program Coordinator. Must love working with people with disabilities.
Laptops Or IPadsH.E.A.R.T. has received one IPAD and two laptops. Through several successful fundraisers we were able to purchase these items. There is still a need for IPAD's as each instructor needs one. Two more laptops are needed also. Any donations toward this project are greatly appreciated.
