Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.Our organization uses horses to provide our services that are cared for and sheltered by another organization(s).
Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
It is the mission of the Mount Carmel Area Educational Community to create a learning environment that nurtures the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of each child.
Horse-related programs include: Equine Assisted Team Building Groups with at-risk girls, Individual horsemanship lessons with alternative education students and students with autism, Equine Career Exploration Groups where students get to spend time with various professionals in the horse industry, a horsemanship program with special needs students where they learn about handling, grooming, horse behavior, horse health, and horse anatomy through direct interaction with the horses, Galloping Tornadoes 4-H club, and Horses in Education where Math, Science, and English lessons are built around interaction with the horses.
