Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Horse Welfare

Our organization operates programs involved with horse rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, adoption and/or retirement.

Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
Provide sanctuary, rehab, retraining and placement of ex-racehorses and educate industry and non-industry people about the responsibilities of horse ownership.

Volunteer Opportunities

Minimum Age: 18
Prepare newsletters, articles and other announcement.

Minimum Age: 18
Photograph all horses entering program. Update photos every three to six months.

Press/Media Relations
Minimum Age: 18
Coordinate all public relations/media events.

Web Master
Minimum Age: 18
Maintain and update website on a weekly basis.

Intake Processor
Minimum Age: 18
Gather, file and track all intake paperwork.

Grant Coordinator
Minimum Age: 18
Co-ordinate the timelines of all grant opportunities and identify internal deadlines related to the grant process.

Membership Coordinator
Minimum Age: 18
Manage membership lists, email lists and mailouts. Perform annual membership drive. Coordinate annual election.

Permanent Facility
LHRA strives to consolidate the rescue into a single facility where we can effectively retrain, rehab and rehome retired racehorses. Currently we pay foster homes to assist in this area.

Silent/Live Auction Items
Products and services to aution at our annual Live and Silent Auction to be held the first weekend in December. Best sellers include horse items, artwork, giftcards, travel.
