Our organization operates programs involved with horse rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, adoption and/or retirement.
Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.
Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
To provide a happy, healthy forever home to, at present, 33 previously abandoned, neglected, injured or abused horses.
Horse Lovers Wanted!Minimum Age: 12We need volunteers here at Tierra Madre Horse Sanctuary 365 days a year. Duties will include mucking, cleaning & filling water tubs, grooming, walking, learning about horses.
Community Outreach Volunteer(s)Minimum Age: 18Several times per month, we have been given booth space at a local restaurant where we can set up a table, distribute information about the sanctuary and collect donations. Completion of volunteer orientation required, along with passion for horses, good communication skills/the ability to meet-greet folks and talk about our organization.
Supplies For Our VolunteersWater Bottles: We are in Arizona; regardless of the season, water bottles are ALWAYS needed in full stock.
Routine Services/SuppliesMonthly Manure pick-up/bin exchange (~$300.00).
DIRT: Domres Grading Inc.; shade material (3/8″ minus) dirt.
Fly Spray (all natural) or AVON's "Skin-So-Soft,"
Fly Masks, Halters, Lead Ropes.
Carts: Ace Hardware: Rubbermaid Poly Farm, Gorilla Carts and the Ace brand.
Elastikon, by 3M.
