Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation): Public Service
Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.
Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
The purpose of this corporation is to provide therapeutic horseback riding and equine activities for disabled children and adults.
Horse HandlersMinimum Age: 16Groom horses lead horses. This person would need to have a good understanding of horse behavior on the ground. This person's top priority would be the horse's safety and well being.
Rider Side WalkerMinimum Age: 16The person would need to walk beside the horse while the rider is on the horse. The volunteer would be trained in how to catch and hold a rider in the case that they lost their balance. This person must be strong and tall enough to catch a rider if they slip or fall.
Tack Room MaintenanceMinimum Age: 16This group of volunteers maintains, cleans, and oils tack. We have 8 saddles and at least 12 bridles, reins, saddle pads, helmets, blankets, and sheets. They must all be cleaned regularly and repaired if needed.
General Barn MaintenanceMinimum Age: 10This group of volunteers would scrub and fill buckets, clean pasture water troughs, dust stalls, rake and muck stalls, bed in stalls, scrub feeders, sweep out feed and tack rooms, and do general cleaning chores around the barn.
TruckThis would have to be at least a 2500 or F-250. This truck would be used to pull a 4 horse gooseneck trailer. Diesel preferred.
Riding Arena CoveringThis would cover an existing arena. It could be a metal, wood, or cloth structure. This would enable riders to participate in rain and very hot weather.
