Horses bring joy to young and old alike - and make those with the deepest of wounds whole again. However, America's horses are also confronted with a disturbing reality. Thousands of horses are transported across our borders for slaughter each year, and tens of thousands more are abused, neglected and in need of rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing.

For horses to remain an important part of American life and have a viable future, it is critical that we ensure donor dollars are invested in programs that have the greatest impact which is why only equine charities that have undergone a rigorous review and attain the EQUUS Foundation Guardian designation are eligible for financial support from the EQUUS Foundation.

EQUUS Foundation Guardian Charities are hard at work every day re-homing at-risk and transitioning horses, providing a safe haven for aged horses, and increasing opportunities for all people to engage and partner with horses in new & innovative ways.

COVID-19 Relief Campaign

2020 was by far the most challenging year in our history. While we are hopeful that we are returning to normalcy this year, there are still many people continuing to face hardships. Many charities providing critical relief for at-risk and transitioning horses and for people with special needs through equine assisted services continue to be significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
