Gulf Coast Winter Classic V Signs on as a Best Performance Competition!

WESTPORT, CT - January 27, 2014 - The Gulf Coast Winter Classic V is the latest horse show to sign on as a Best Performance Competition, the program jointly endorsed by the EQUUS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation that gives horse shows and their exhibitors the opportunity to support horse welfare by doing what they do best - competing!

The EQUUS Foundation Best Performance of the Day class will be offered during Week Five, March 5, 2014 - March 9, 2014, which features a $77,000 Grand Prix and its USHJA International Hunter Derby. Contact or visit the Horse Show Office to enter the class!

The USHJA Zone 4 Member's Choice Award winning Gulf Coast Winter Classic Horse Show Circuit is also a South East Tourism's Top Ten Award winning event. Each year during February and March thousands of competitors travel to the Harrison County Equestrian Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, for six weeks of quality competition and fun on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Equestrian Center is a state of the art facility with an extraordinary Grass Grand Prix field, well maintained all weather footing competition rings, and many other features that will make both horse and horseman happy. The 2014 event is offering over $1,000,000 in prize money and awards, classes for all skill levels, and of course a big dose of our sweet southern hospitality.

Best Performance Competition

It's A Win Win!

The program utilizes competition itself to rally support within the equestrian sport community for horse welfare.
Horse shows participate by:
• offering the EQUUS Foundation Best Performance of the Day class,
• encouraging their exhibitors to compete in the class, and
• donating the class proceeds to the EQUUS Foundation.

100% of the class proceeds are used for horse welfare.

Open to Juniors, Amateurs & Professionals in All Division in All Disciplines!

The judge will select the winner from among the competitors (junior, amateur or professional) wearing the official Best Performance Competition Armband while competing in any division at the participating competition. The winner is the judge's favorite and most memorable performance.

USEF Licensed Competitions that sign up as Best Performance Competitions, along with the class winners, are recognized by both the EQUUS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation.
