FAIRFIELD Runs for the Roses and Charity!

WESTPORT, CT - May 12, 2014 - Over 100 members of the Fairfield County Hunt Club and June horse show sponsors and exhibitors turned out for the "Running of the Roses" on Saturday, May 3, 2014 for the Fairfield June Show preview party to benefit the EQUUS Foundation.

As part of the festivities, guests vied to win the Best Hat Contest. Wearing a hat to the Kentucky Derby is believed to bear good luck! The long-established fashion was started by the women, however, over the last few years, many men have taken part in the tradition as well. From the fantastic to the sublime, there are no rules or limits. But it was a woman, Selina Huber, who was bestowed the top honor by June Show Co-Chairs, Catherine Herman, Sean Hogan and Michele Ippolito.

Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President said, "It was all great fun and we thank the Hunt Club for hosting this pre-show sponsorship party on our behalf. Our annual benefit luncheon held in association with the $25,000 Fairfield Grand Prix, on Saturday, June 21, 2014, is our biggest fundraiser of the year."

A USEF Heritage Competition, USHJA's Zone I Members Choice for 2012 and 2013, and a Best Performance Competition, FAIRFIELD will be held Tuesday-Saturday, June 17-21, 2014 and offers free admission and parking for spectators to enjoy top notch equestrian competition and activities for the entire family, including shopping and pony rides on Saturday's Family Fun Day sponsored by Nestlè Waters North America.

Held on the grounds of the Fairfield County Hunt Club at 174 Long Lots Road in Westport, Connecticut, highlights include the $7,500 Poland Spring Open Jumper Welcome Stake on Thursday, June 19, 2014 and the $25,000 Fairfield Grand Prix on Saturday, June 21, 2014, presented by Wells Fargo Advisors LLC & George N. Venizelos.

The Grand Prix is the culminating competition of the show, held in conjunction with the EQUUS Foundation Grand Prix Luncheon. Set in a picturesque country setting, under an impressive Century tent, guests not only enjoy a champagne reception and elegant luncheon cuisine, they have a ringside view of exciting show jumping competition while also supporting a very worthy cause.
