A Day of Hope for Adoptable Horses at the Hampton Classic's Adoption Day on Monday, August 26

2019 Hampton Classic Adoption Day

On Monday, August 26, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., the EQUUS Foundation will once again partner with the Hampton Classic Horse Show to present adoptable horses at the Hampton Classic's Animal Adoption Day. The annual gathering features rescued horses in transition seeking a second chance and new homes and careers.

EQUUstars Georgina Bloomberg and Brianne Goutal-Marteau will co-host the Equine Adoption Event with the EQUUS Foundation. This year, EQUUS Foundation Guardian Charities, Omega Horse Rescue from Pennsylvania, ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption from New York and Rising Starr Horse Rescue from Connecticut, will each present horses and ponies available for adoption. The state-of-the-art HEART Horse Ambulance will join the EQUUS Foundation in the ring and will be open for tours.

"As always, I am thrilled to be at the beautiful Hampton Classic Horse Show representing the work of the EQUUS Foundation and also The Rider's Closet, which I founded in 2006 and is now a program of the EQUUS Foundation," said Bloomberg. "I look forward to this day each year to help raise awareness and support for horses in transition that need new homes and new chapters. It's important to remember that many thousands of horses across the country are waiting for lifelines, and a chance to be loved and to be someone's champion—and as people who care about horses, we need to step up and speak out for all horses."

Rider's Closet Mobile Donation Trunk on the Move!
The Rider's Closet will have its mobile donation tack trunk at the Equine Adoption Event on Monday to accept donations of new and gently used equestrian apparel to award to riders in need around the country. The trunk will move to the Hampton Classic Patioon Tuesday and Wednesday, and to the Mikelle Design booth in the Boutique Garden from Thursday through Sunday.

Debut of Der Dau Vegan Boots
Compassionate to animals and the environment
Custom boot designer and Hampton Classic sponsor, Der Dau, will debut the new #RideForHorses Vegan boots for the EQUUS Foundation and will officially begin taking orders at the Equine Adoption event. Der Dau will donate 20% of each boot purchase to the EQUUS Foundation to protect America's at-risk and transitioning horses.

The innovative non-leather boots are the result of a collaboration among EQUUS Foundation VP of Engagement Valerie Angeli, Der Dau founder Joseph Der, and EQUUStars Bloomberg and Clementine Goutal. Read more here.

"The #RideForHorses Vegan boots were a longtime idea of mine whose moment had come," said Angeli. "Thanks to the wonderful commitment many people are making to animal welfare and environmental causes today, it was the perfect time to create these high-style, high-functioning boots that are kind to both the environment and animals. Joe Der is going the extra mile to ensure that the sale of these gorgeous vegan boots will also benefit horses at risk through the EQUUS Foundation."

"We hope all horse lovers who come to the Hampton Classic will attend our equine adoption event on Monday, August 26, and come away inspired about helping at-risk and transitioning horses in transition and thinking about adoption as the first choice," said Angeli. "There are thousands of wonderful horses of all shapes, sizes and types in desperate need of help, and as each one finds his or her way to a new home and next chapter, it makes room for another to have a second chance."
