2023 EQUUS Foundation Funding Cycle Opens on January 1

There's much to be thankful for as we head into 2023. The EQUUS Foundation is thankful for the joy that horses give us and for the hard work of the charities that the EQUUS Foundation supports, day in and day out, that are finding homes for at-risk horses and horses in transition, providing a safety net for owners enduring hardship, ensuring a safe haven for aged horses, and increasing opportunities for more horses to engage, inspire and empower people.

Happy New Year

We are also thankful for the donations received from individuals and organizations that allows us to invest in programs that have the greatest impact on minimizing the conditions that lead to abuse and neglect, and the threat of slaughter of America's horses

Informed giving is at the heart of the EQUUS Foundation mission. Only equine charities that attain the EQUUS Foundation Guardian designation by being fully transparent and accountable to the public are eligible to receive financial support from the EQUUS Foundation. EQUUS Foundation Guardian charities that operate at the highest standards for business and equine welfare practices receive the EQUUS Foundation Mentor Accreditation.

In our ongoing effort to not only provide financial support to equine charities, but also guidance and resources on best practices, the EQUUS Foundation will conduct three webinars in 2023 to assist equine charities in attaining the Guardian designation.

Now in our 20th year, we have set an ambitious goal to raise $2 million to double our investment in the equine charities we support and double our endowment. Over 20,000 of America's horses are shipped across our borders for slaughter each year. Tens of thousands more are abused and neglected when their owners no longer can afford, or wish, to keep them. NO HORSE should be subjected to this inhumane fate – especially because there are solutions within our reach.

Please consider starting off 2023 with a gift!
