7.2 Million Reasons Why America's Horses Need your Voice!

According to the 2017 Economic Impact Study conducted by the American Horse Council, there were an estimated 7.2 million horses in the United States, 30.5% or 38 million of U.S. households contained horse enthusiasts, and the spending by horse enthusiasts in their pursuit of horse events and recreation directly contributed over $50 billion to America’s Gross Domestic Product.

The EQUUS Foundation urges all horse owners and horse industry suppliers to participate in the 2023 Economic Impact Survey to demonstrate the value of the equine industry in the national and state economies by analyzing the direct, indirect, and induced economic impacts of horse ownership, recreation, and equine-related services.

"The challenges of the last few years with the pandemic and its economic impacts on all aspects of our industry make the 2023 study all that more important and necessary," states Dr. Rick Mitchell, Chairman of the AHC Board, and EQUUS Foundation Board member.

Deadline: Friday, September 29, 2023!

Here's More You Can Do!

The American Horse Council is also conducting a survey on the role of horses as healers. The United States Department of Agriculture - National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) conducts national studies on the health and management of livestock and horses in the United States. They are in the planning phase for the next national equine study and are hoping to identify information gaps in the equine industry to help shape future objectives for the study.
