Urban Heat, aka "Heather," is a 17h, 2014 mare that arrived at the Center in search of her third career. By Unusual Heat out of Dancing Jo by Johannesburg, Urban Heat was bred by Madeline Auerbach, a former vice-president of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance board of directors and staunch supporter of Thoroughbred aftercare. After Heather's first and only start, Madeline and her son Harris realized that big, beautiful, wellbred mare was not cut out to be a racehorse, and hoped that she might do better as a broodmare. She had one foal, but, like racing, motherhood was not her calling. So, acting in Heather's best interest, Madeline and Harris decided she would be happier back in work with a job and a person of her own. They were so right, and we are thankful to them for giving Heather the opportunity she wanted! After two years off, she is thriving in our program, gaining in fitness and strength every day. Big in stature and in size, Heather travels with elegance and suspension, is light in the bridle, and moves off the leg with ease. She's a pleaser, always giving 100%, especially when set up for success with clear cues and expectations. She will excel in dressage, for sure, but given her innate athleticism and desire to partner with her rider, she could move up the levels in any discipline.
ADOPTION FEE REDUCED FOR FEBRUARY ONLY.
