Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
The Equestrian Center at Ark Regional Services embodies Ark's general mission in all its program services.

This mission is to facilitate opportunities for people:
To LIVE enriched, full, and individualized lives;
To LEARN what is necessary and meaningful to realize personal success;
To WORK towards individual accomplishment, employment satisfaction, and community contribution; and
To PLAY…

Broadly, the Equestrian Center at Ark Regional Services provides a unique equine experience for children and adults with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities. Mounted and unmounted sessions tailored toward individual needs and goals foster positive outcomes for physical, emotional, mental, and behavioral skill growth. Additionally, the Equestrian Center provides an Equine Assisted Learning Program delivered to children from the Albany County School District aged between 5-21 years.

Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Public Service

Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.

Our organization conducts Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) programs with instructors, specialists, counselors, trainers and/or facilitators who have certified training for their scope of practice applicable to the people participating in the programs and specific to the program offerings - serving as staff (full-time or part-time), as independent contractors, and/or as service providers, serving in a volunteer capacity, or accompanying clients when participating in our programs.

Our organization provides community outreach and/or public education programs involving horses.

100% of our total programs and services are horse-related.

Our organization conducts its horse-related programs at one facility.

*Guardians are organizations on the Equine Welfare Network that demonstrate a commitment to public transparency and accountability by their willingness to publish and share extensive data about their operations. The Guardian Designation is awarded annually.
