Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Horse Welfare

Our organization operates programs involved with horse rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, adoption and/or retirement.

Our organization's primary activity is equine rescue & adoption.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care and shelter of horses.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary is a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization located in Hemet, CA that is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, nurturing and healing miniature horses with the ultimate goal of finding forever, loving homes for our minis. 100% of our donations go to the minis. We do not have any administrative costs. Everyone associated with our sanctuary is considered a volunteer. We have a board of directors consisting of seven members that meet quarterly.

We are a verified member of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Recognition by GFAS is the most prestigious award given to animal sanctuaries globally.

Through the charitable efforts of our volunteers and community, we strive to provide help, hope and love to miniature horses that have been abused, abandoned or are in danger of being shipped to slaughter. Our goal is to match every rescued horse with a perfectly safe and loving home. We realize that some horses that come to So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary will never be able to be adopted. They will be life-long residents. We are committed to allowing them to live out their lives in a stress free and safe environment.

Our rescued horses usually require extensive care due to injuries, emaciation or age. Therefore, with rescues arriving often, our costs of care are growing. Currently our cost for food alone has reached approximately $6,000 per month. Veterinary costs and farrier costs can be expensive and vary depending on the condition and needs of each horse. Our mini rescue is the largest in the U.S. and has become one of the first rescues contacted by the public when there is a horse in immediate need of a sanctuary.

We are very proud that we have found wonderful homes for 29 miniature horses just in this year. We have many horses in our care, some that will be permanent residents of the sanctuary. We still have, at this moment, 59 horses waiting to be adopted or are still in the process of learning to trust people again and are several months away from adoption.

So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary is a place of refuge, a place of rest and a place to love.
Contact us today at 951-764-5707 to help these wonderful horses and help us fulfill the promise of a safe and loving forever home. 100% of all donations go to the minis.
