After spending several months in the Monty Roberts' Mustang and Transition Horse Program, Gilly has found her forever home in Santa Barbara, California.
“When my daughter, Ruby, and I first met Gilly at Monty Roberts', Gilly was still very spooky and unsettled from her experiences as a racehorse and after. Her eyes were wild. She was not able to relax and connect with others. She was healing. More recently, after Mr. Monty Roberts, Simon d'Unienville (lead trainer) and Simon's team of staff and volunteers worked with Gilly to bring her true personality forward, my interactions with this precious being were profound. I like to say that with Gilly, "the eyes have it"."
Gilly's new owner described her eyes as windows to her soul, and Gilly is now the first to the paddock fence to say "hello".
"She adores children and since there are two in Gilly's co-adopter, Holly's, family, Kaia and Riley, and two in my family, Ruby and Sailer, this is wonderful."
"Holly and I are planning to let Gilly guide us as we move forward in her training and explore the subject of riding. When she is ready, we are. Not the other way around. Gilly had a rough start and we intend to make that ancient history. She is HOME now."
