Judy is a 19 yr old OTTB bay mare who arrived at NEER back at the beginning of this year. She had two starts on the track, and two foals, before becoming a lesson horse, which she was not a big fan of!
When Judy arrived at NEER she was not in a good space. We treated her for ulcers and gave her time to just rest and settle in. Eventually she became much more comfortable and we started to see her lovely personality. The trainers slowly brought her back to the point where she was happy again to be ridden which was wonderful to see. She was
finally ready to find her forever home!
There were not a lot of people that were interested in Judy until the day I received Jennifer's application. After speaking with her on the phone, I invited Jenn and her mom out to meet Judy as well as some of our other horses just in case Judy didn't work out. Jenn wanted a trail horse and everything that we knew about Judy, told us that Judy
may not be the right fit for her. I am so happy that we were wrong!
She met Judy first and I knew immediately that Judy was the one. It was just the way she looked at Judy. It was as if she had known and loved her her whole life! I showed her the other horses and after we saw them all she asked if she could go back and see Judy! A few weeks later she took Judy home!
I am so happy with this adoption in particular because of the instant connection that Jenn felt towards Judy the minute she saw her. As the adoption coordinator here at NEER North, it is what I wish for when I show a horse to a potential adopter. It doesn't usually happen that quickly but in Jenn's case, it did and all of us here at NEER North
couldn't be happier for the both of them!
We wish Judy and Jenn a lifetime of love and many miles of trails to explore...together! Judy is finally home!
