Happy Endings!

In the summer of 2022, Granger was an older horse living with a small herd of younger horses on a large, dry pasture, with little to eat. The others maintained, but Granger was emaciated, and fortunately, law enforcement intervened before it was too late. Once at AAE, Granger was started on a refeeding program (alfalfa pellets), and he received the works – most urgently needed was dental care, and also vaccines, hoof care, and deworming, and he got a microchip. Fortunately, Granger (estimated 25-30 years old) recovered well with no apparent long-term health issues, though diagnostics did show he had Cushings. Granger was also started on daily medications for Cushings and arthritis.

We are so happy that Granger found his match. He is already settling in with his new family as their (non-riding) companion. He has a new senior mare friend of his very own! This old guy is so loved, and we are so grateful there are kind humans willing to consider giving a wonderful, loving, second-chance home to our seniors during their golden years.
